Richard Montgomery was an American general for the battle of Quebec. He was a general with Benedict Arnold. The colonists wanted to capture the Canadian city of Quebec. Arnold’s army was shiviering from the cold and far from being home once they got to Quebec. Arnold’s army finally joined together at Quebec with Montgomery. The Americans didn’t have any storng enough cannons to knock down the unseperate walls of Quebec. So they waited for a snowstorm for cover to attack. On the day of December 31, 1775, a fierce snowstorm came and the colonists attacked. Montgomery advanced is troops toward the wall city where the first volley took place. The three of the highest officers got wiped out in the 1st volley. Including General Richard Montgomery. Montgomery died by a heavy grape shot. Arnold had no idea of Montgomery’s death so he continued to move his troops onward toward their northern protective wall. As they reached the barricade, they were fired at from the British. Benedict Arnold was wounded in the ankle and was carried from the war. Next in line, Daniel Morgan took control and got surrounded by tons of British militia. Being forced to surrender. At 10:00 the battle of Quebec officially ended. Concluding with 60 Americans killed and 426 Americans captured. As for the British they had only 5 killed and 19 wounded.external image montgomery-1.jpgexternal image montgomery-3.jpg
